PTAC - Hydraulic Fracturing

Thursday 29 May 2014, 08:00 - 17:00

"Alberta’s conventional crude oil potential was recently thought to be declining – but not anymore. With technological advancements, both conventional fields and new oil-laden fields that were thought to be uncommercial with pre-existing vertical drilling technology are now the hot crude plays in the province. Some of the most promising shale gas and tight oil plays that have been unlocked through technology advancements with horizontal drilling and multistage fracturing and the size of the prize is huge!"

"While hydraulic fracturing is commercially practiced in Western Canada and in some U.S. states, other jurisdictions have delayed implementation or imposed a moratorium, citing potential risks to the environment and to public health. This event is focused on the process of hydraulic fracturing as it specifically relates to production in Western Canada. It will feature current regulatory perspective on future policies, management strategies and initiatives. It will also highlight discussion topics and new research relating to air and water issues resulting from this production process."

Poonam Tauh will be attending this event.  Hope to see you there!
