Xianqiu Zhu

Intellectual Property Lawyer

Xianqiu completed her law degree at the University of Ottawa and articled at MBM’s Ottawa office. She is now an Associate Lawyer with MBM and assists the litigation department in IP matters related to patents, trademarks, copyright, and industrial designs, specifically assisting with legal research, drafting cease and desist letters, reviewing agreements, domain name disputes, trademark opposition proceedings, and website terms and conditions/privacy policies.

She has bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from the Harbin Institute of Technology in China. Before pursuing her law degree, she worked as an Account Manager for a global telecommunication company throughout the African continent, specifically in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, South Sudan.

Xianqiu has a deep interest in innovation and technology. At law school, she completed a Technology Law internship with TECHNATION, a national association driving the adoption of digital transformation across Canada. She worked on various law and technology projects, including document and workflow automation.

In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, hiking, camping, kayaking, playing table tennis and watching Disney movies.
