Martin Bourgeois, Ph.D.
Patent Associate
After obtaining a private pilot’s license from the Moncton Flight College and trying out skydiving, Martin graduated with a BSc and a MSc in physics from University of Moncton, specializing in optics and crystals.
In the following years, Martin designed, built, developed and described a variety of laser measuring instruments, with direction from Gentec Electro-Optics and an international clientele of laser laboratories and manufacturers. During this time, he obtained a PhD from Laval University and was invited to give a number of talks in Canada, the US and Europe.
With 12 years of experience as a scientist, Martin chose the law school of Moncton University, joined the Law Society of New Brunswick, and worked in business law and litigation. To refresh his expertise, Martin taught a course in modern physics, and then moved to Ottawa to practice IP law and combine his interests.
Martin’s hobbies have included snowboarding, practicing a variety of martial arts and dancing styles, providing flightseeing tours, and studying the history of technology, programming, linguistics and communication. He also spends free time tinkering with his own experiments and keeping up to date on recent innovations.
