My Background and Focus

Viktor Haramina is an intellectual property litigation lawyer at MBM Intellectual Property Law LLP in Ottawa. Viktor practices in the areas of patents, trademarks, copyright, licensing, trade secrets, regulatory matters under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations and Competition Law issues.

Viktor’s primary focus is contentious intellectual property litigation before the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal. He assists clients with all types of litigation, including trials, applications, judicial reviews, interlocutory matters and regulatory compliance. Viktor has extensive experience in patent-related matters and manages all stages of litigation, including initial assessment opinions, pleadings, discovery, experts, and trials.

Viktor advises on the protection, management, leveraging, commercialization, and enforcement of intellectual property. He has experience preparing agreements for collaborative research and development, consulting, confidentiality, non-disclosure, licensing and settlement.

Viktor has worked on a wide variety of patented technologies, including wireless communications, semiconductor manufacturing processes, computer hardware and software, gaming, electronics and electrical systems, mechanical systems, pharmaceuticals, food products, and life science technologies.

Viktor is also a Systems & Computing Engineer. Prior to pursuing a legal career in Intellectual Property Law, Viktor worked in industry designing and implementing low- and high-level aspects of intelligent computer and sensor systems, including embedded system design, circuit layout, assembly level programming, integrated circuit technologies, FPGAs, DSPs, and software applications involving various programming languages (SQL, C, C++, JAVA, Perl, Fortran). He also has experience in construction and agriculture.
