My Background and Focus
Andrew joined MBM’s Ottawa office in September 2024 and is now an associate lawyer with MBM’s Litigation Department.
Andrew’s practice focuses on intellectual property litigation, IP transactions, and trademark portfolio management and enforcement. He is also involved in crafting intellectual property licensing agreements, distribution agreements, SaaS agreements, contest rules, and the like.
Andrew obtained his JD from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2024. Upon graduation, he was awarded the IP Osgoode David Vaver Medal for Excellence in Intellectual Property Law for outstanding achievement in intellectual property law or policy.
While at Osgoode, Andrew completed the Intellectual Property Law & Technology Intensive Program, where he was placed with CIPO (Canadian Intellectual Property Office) in their policy division. Andrew also competed with Osgoode’s team in the USPTO Competitive Patent Drafting Moot, winning bronze in the regional rounds.
Andrew was a member of the Osgoode Hall Law Journal throughout his 3 years at law school, finishing his final year as the Director of Production. He also wrote for the IPilogue (Osgoode’s IP blog) and was a Fellow with the IP Innovation Clinic, a student-based clinic designed to provide assistance to under-resourced inventors and start-ups.
In 2022, prior to law school, Andrew completed his Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Toronto. As part of his Ph.D. thesis, Andrew examined how the proximate mechanisms that control animal behaviour at a mechanical level can explain the emergence of animal behaviours.
As a former professional lacrosse player, Andrew enjoys staying active and playing lacrosse whenever possible.

My life outside of work
Outside of work, as a former professional lacrosse player, I enjoy staying active and playing lacrosse whenever possible. My home life is happily busy, shared with my wife and three dogs who ensure there’s never a dull moment and who provide the perfect excuse to step outside and unwind. When I am not spending time with them, much of my free time is dedicated to DIY projects and Woodworking. I am happiest building, fixing, or improving things around the house. I enjoy tackling DIY projects, whether that’s renovating a room, troubleshooting stubborn repairs, or learning new tools and techniques as I go. I get genuine satisfaction in creating something tangible.
