My Background and Focus
I joined MBM in January 2025 as an IP Administrator, supporting the trademarks team with filings, client communications, docketing, and deadline management. From day one, I’ve been focused on learning the firm’s workflows and gaining a strong understanding of the Canadian trademark system. As I’ve grown in the role and taken on more responsibilities, I transitioned into a trademark paralegal role, which has given me the chance to build new skills and strengthen my expertise in trademarks, as I work towards becoming an IP professional in Canada.
Before moving to Canada, I worked in the legal department of a large German grocery chain, where I specialized in intellectual property. I was responsible for rights clearances, developing workflows, and handling infringement cases. Those years provided me with a solid foundation in IP law, equipping me with problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly, which continue to guide and support my work today.
In addition, I also have extensive experience in intellectual property protection gained through both in-house and private practice roles in Hong Kong, where I’m originally from. I’ve supported clients with a wide range of contentious and non-contentious matters, including trademark filings and prosecution, anticounterfeiting and enforcement, patent and design clearance searches and registration, and managing multi-jurisdictional IP portfolios. These experiences, both from in-house and private practice, have shaped me into a well-rounded IP professional who thrives on learning, exciting new challenges, and contributing in a meaningful way to the IP field.
Looking back, I realize that moving to Canada in 2020 has been an incredible journey for me, my family and my career. I had been looking for an opportunity to be more present with my daughters, to spend more time together as a family, and to embrace a new culture. I also wanted to find an opportunity to pursue my professional goals and develop additional skills within IP. I have found that balance with MBM. I am learning every day, and I’m even getting used to the Ottawa winters!

My life outside of work
In my spare time, I enjoy expressing my creativity through baking and cake decorating, as well as flower arranging and oil painting. I hold professional certificates as both a floral designer and a cake decorator, which allows me to pursue these passions at a more advanced level.
I also love travelling and exploring new places with my family. One of the great perks of travelling is the opportunity to spend quality time with family. Travelling is the best way to learn about different cultures, architecture, food, and of course, wine!
Community Involvement
I volunteer at the Ottawa Chinese Alliance Church, where I help organize and prepare regular welcoming dinners for newcomers. This role allows me to support individuals and families as they settle into the community, fostering connections and creating a warm, inclusive environment.
