My Background and Focus

Stuart’s practice focuses on the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in various areas of technology, including telecommunication, electronics, solid-state lighting, computer software, mechanical devices, medical devices and related technologies. He provides strategic IP portfolio counselling and advises clients on patent strategy, portfolio development, invention disclosure, research documentation and inventorship. Stuart works closely with clients to ensure their patent portfolios support their business objectives. He also regularly collaborates with a wide network of foreign associates to manage the prosecution of clients’ patent portfolios worldwide. Stuart also has extensive experience drafting and prosecuting industrial design applications.

Stuart is a registered patent agent in Canada and also has limited recognition to represent Canadians in patent matters before the USPTO. He has been practicing in the intellectual property industry for over 15 years. Stuart splits his time between Ottawa and Vancouver based clients.
